38 lb King Salmon caught in August
Lake Ontario Charter Fishing Info
The 20 mile stretch of Lake Ontario between the mouth of the Niagara River and Olcott, New York is one of the most consistant producers of Trophy king salmon, Steelhead, Lake trout and Brown trout in the Great Lakes.
APRIL-JUNE - Spring fishing at its best. The sring sun warms the inshore waters which draws the baitfish near shore to spawn and the gamefish follow to feed on them. Lake Trout, Brown trout, Coho's and King's all move within a half mile of shore and are caught in large numbers. A great trip after the long winter!!!! May spring King fishing off the Niagara Bar is unlike anywhere else in the Lake Ontario with limit catches of King from 10-25 pounds common.
JULY-EARLY AUGUST - Deep water fishing for Leaping Steelhead and line screaming Kings. Also Big Browns and large schools of Lake trout school up along the Niagara Bar inshore. This is your time For a Trophy Lake Ontario Steelhead !!!
MID AUGUST-SEPT - Kings Kings Kings!!!! King or Chinook Salmon begin to stage or school up outside the mouth of the river in preperation for their fall spawning run. There is no better time to catch Large numbers of Trophy Kings in the 25- 35 pound class. In 2001 we limited out at 3 Kings per man nearly every day!!
